First, you will need to buy some supplies from your favorite garden center. I bought two plastic planters which were two different sizes so that I can stack them. I bought mine from Tractor Supply, but of course you can buy these where you shop for your gardening supplies.
The supplies you will need are as follows:
1. Two planters
2. Potting soil
3. Plants of your choice
4. A solar powered fountain disk
Next, you will make sure that your bottom planter has good drainage holes. You may need to drill holes or use a tool to punch holes on the bottom for good drainage. The smaller planter will not need holes since it will need to hold water. I then take my potting soil and fill the bottom planter until I feel like I have enough soil to plant my plants. Keep in mind that you will need to place the smaller planter on top of the soil and position it in the middle of the bottom container. Just leave enough room to plant your flowers or greenery. For my container, I chose to go with greenery, you could certainly plant colorful flowers and they would look so great!! In the Texas heat, I chose the greenery, because I think I will have better luck with it than flowers.
You can plant your flowers or greenery into the bottom planter just make sure to make room for the top planter to sit on top of the soil. Then once all of that is done, just merely fill the top planter with water and place your solar disk right on top of the water. Once assembled, the disk will float on top of the water.
