Easy Americana DIY
Let’s create an easy Americana craft using a Primitive Candle Shelf from the Rust Covered Cottage by Christina.
Supplies you will need:
- A Primitive Candle Holder
- Three small wooden stars
- One small wooden crate from Dollar Tree
- One bandana ( I got mine from Walmart)
- Red White and Blue paint
- Stain ( I used Amber Honey Glaze – a Paint Couture glaze.
- Greenery
- A candle of your choice
- Floral foam
- Any other patriotic embellishments
- Tite Bond (any wood glue of your choice)
- Hot glue
- Totally Dazzled star bling
Instructions:
I took a wooden kit from The Rust Covered Cottage by Christina. I stained the whole thing in Amber Honey.

I let the four piece dry, and then did a dry brush with white. This part is optional.
Next, I then took my Tite Bond and glued the pieces together. I took the top and bottem and glued those two pieces first. I then glued the sides, and now I have completed the Candle Holder. It’s time to embellish!

For the next step, I added the floral foam to the bottom with hot glue.

Next I needed to pain the small wooden stars. I painted one red, one white, and one blue. Then I hot glued them onto the front of the box.

I added my Distressed Ink in the color Gathered Twigs to apply it onto the stars. This step is to give the stars an aged look.

I then took my bandana and tied one end. I tied that end around the top of the candle holder. I then draped it across the front of the holder. I simply tucked the other end in-between the crate box and the holder on one side. The last step was to take a few strips of the bandana and create a bow which I hot glued onto the top of the shelf and I added a blingy star in the middle of the bow.
